Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Volume One is the first installment of his two part martial art masterpiece featuring Uma Thurman (Beatrix Kiddo) as a modern day assassin back from a horrific murder attempt on her life. After spending years in a coma, she returns to exact revenge on her former team one by one. Tarantino episodic film uses several different techniques that keep the flashback scenes interesting and non-repetitive.  Kiddo focuses her attention on Vivica Fox (Vernita), assassin turned mom/housewife and Lucy Liu (O-Ren) the new leader of the Yakuza. The action sequences are amazing and have become some of the most memorable Hollywood images of all time, especially Kiddo’s confrontation with the Crazy 88s.

Tarantino draws much of his inspiration from the great martial films of Bruce Lee, Sonny Chiba, and Chia Hui Liu (the latter two have roles in the film).  He takes this sub-genre and introduces it to mainstream audiences that can’t wait too see Volume Two.
